Jonny J is a folksinger residing in Fairbanks, Alaska -- playing solo under the name "Jonny J Solo" and with his band “The Whiskey Fish” featuring Morgan Hough on drums,  Joel Brann on upright bass, and Brant Finstad on Trumpet. 

His style has been described as “edgy folk with a bone to pick", blending the driving rhythms of Irish folk, the storytelling essence of Americana, the grit of blues, and the twang of bluegrass. 

At the heart of his music are lyrics that cut deep - whether exploring personal battles or offering gritty social commentary, his words are piercing and evocative. 

 Jonny J Solo's music has rapidly gained attention across Alaska -  playing at Salmonfest 2024, Chickenstock 2025, Ester Fest 2025, and several other Music Festivals across Alaska and Canada.
